Orcas Island Camping part 1

This was our first trip camping with all of the girls. Dao and I used to go all the time before kids, and we went a couple of times after we had our oldest daughter, but never with all 4 of them. We decided it was time to give it a try, and the G6 came with us!
The weather was questionable for the ride over to Orcas Island. It was cold! But we didn't let it get us down! The kids and Daddies hung out on the deck of the ferry, while us Mommies held down our spot (ate snacks and warmed up the little ones who trickled back in) inside.

We did go out for a minute and took this picture! Thanks to Daddy G for the idea!

After awhile everyone got cold, so they came inside and cuddled up to get warm.

Kay and Isa cuddling! Goofy girls!

Em and Nana doing the "Penguin Song" see the G6 blog for a video!
The Daddies setting up camp. We all slept on one site and cooked/ate at the other. The tent we borrowed from the D5 for the older girls. Thanks D5!Haley, Kay, and Isa settling down. Madi made her rounds to every one's tent. Such a cutie!Em and Nana brought along barbies and played together happily for hours! These little cuties joined me in the tent and we pulled out some games. They played so well together! Soon after we got settled, a dear walked up to our campsite. It was not even a little afraid of us. In fact, I have never seen so many deer in my life. They were everywhere!Chef D, getting ready to "Do Work!". The bags of Marshmallow's and smore fixings didn't last long. I think we went through a bag a night!Roasting Marshmallow's. The Daddies swear that one night the campfire looked like a Dragon's head. We are not sure how many beers they had that night. =-)Dao, doing his best "Last of the Mohican's Impression". "I will find you, no matter how far...". For some crazy reason, we decided to take all 8 (yes, 8!) kid's on what we thought would be an easy, mild hike. Well, that was not the case! We ended up hiking over 3 miles up and down super steep hills. The kid's were such trooper's though. Along the way we saw quite a few trees that had fallen over. The little ones thought it was cool to see the roots. And no, Pay is not under the tree, I promise. It is just an amazing visual effect. We hiked to Cascade Falls, a local water fall. The kids and Daddies went down to the bottom of the falls, while Pay, Dev, and the Mommies stayed up high. Then, for some crazy reason, the Daddies decided to take a shortcut back up to us. So they had the kids cross over a tree that was about 15 feet off the ground, and hike up to us!Yes, that is little Madi on her Daddies back. Again, not really sure what the Daddies were thinking. Sometimes it's just best if us Mommies don't know what they are doing with the kids.
I will post Part 2 soon!
